When she realizes this glorious vision is Matthew, she is horrified. After tossing her hairpin into the well, she is startled to see a well-built, handsome man come up the path behind her. Her overbearing father is also growing tired of spending money without any results to show for his efforts. All but Daisy have found husbands and happiness, and she despairs of finding the right man. I enjoyed the time I spent with them.Īmerican Daisy Bowman is the last of the “Wallflowers”, a group of four women: Daisy and her sister Lillian, and their friends Evie and Annabelle. For others, I recommend starting with one of the other books of the series. This is the final of Kleypas’ Wallflower series, and while it wasn’t as strong as Devil In Winter, Daisy and Matthew are an engaging couple. That being said, the book is not a disappointment and it is a sweet ending to the series.įor fans of the series, it is a necessary read. The conflict between the characters is mostly external and while there is a big buildup to the revelation of the secret, the resolution is too quick and easy. This book is a satisfying conclusion to the Wallflowers series, but is my least favorite. The two begin to fall in love but a secret from Matthew’s past threatens to keep them apart. Daisy is appalled, but soon changes her mind when Matthew travels to England and he is not at all as she remembers. He has given her an ultimatum – find a husband before the end of the season in two months or she will marry his protege Matthew Swift. Daisy’s father has tired of waiting for her to find a husband. Daisy is the youngest of the Wallflowers.

A SCANDAL IN SPRING is the story of Daisy Bowman and Matthew Swift.
